GP2 was introduced in 2005 after the discontinuation of
Formula 3000. Like its predecessor, GP2 has made it
mandatory for all of the teams to use the same chasis,
engine and tyres.
F3000 was one
of the worlds most prestigious and competitive open-wheel
racing series. Created in 1985, the category has become
the official feeder series and final proving
ground for drivers, before entering Formula One and has
produced a number of recent/current Grand Prix stars and
World Champions, including Damon Hill, Jean Alesi, David
Coulthard, Juan Pablo Montoya, Nick Heidfeld and Mark Webber.
